You are Enough to Make a Difference
Once you start being conscious you can’t stop. The more you research and knowledge you have, the harder it is to put on blinders. It will nag you in the back of your mind when you make choices that you know you could do better.
Everyday choices DO make a difference and it can help in major ways. We can look at a micro view and say you prevented trash or maybe you helped keep plastic out of an animal’s ecosystem. Or take a macro view and consider the entire production chain and the global footprint impact your choice has made to aid in the fight against climate change.
There are choices you may weigh that are “less ecofriendly” but you will be able to make a more educated decision. When you are shopping, you may find yourself rethinking the implication each item has on the Earth before you purchase. From manufacturing, to shipping, then to the shelf consider how many resources were involved in making a single item. Then factor in the end of its lifecycle once you have completed your use with it. Will it get recycled or will it get sent to land fill? You may be tempted to reconsider the purchase altogether.
Education is the key to doing better. If we don’t learn what choices are available and their implication we aren’t able to improve our lives or those around us. By using facts, science, and research we can begin to invest our individual and collective efforts towards a better future.
Let’s open a dialogue and use our voice for the Earth since she doesn’t have one herself. As I learn more tips and tricks I hope by sharing them here as a resource you are also able to apply these practices into your own life.
